Accessibility Conformance (How we meet the requirements)
We have assessed https://www.doucals.com/ against the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (including any applicable local implementation), the ADA, WCAG 2.2, and Section 508, and it is:
Perceivable
● Content is presented in a clear and logical order that can be interpreted by assistive technologies.
● Instructions do not rely solely on elements such as shape, color, size, position, or sound.
● Content correctly adapts to screen orientation, maintaining consistent display and functionality.
● Where present, the purpose of each input field is clearly communicated to assistive technologies.
● Information is not provided solely through color; a clear text alternative or symbol is also provided.
● Content can be resized, and the interface remains usable.
● Information is presented as text rather than images of text, unless necessary.
● Content correctly adapts when the screen dimension changes, unless a two-dimensional layout is required.
● Important components have sufficient color contrast with adjacent elements across all of their different states.
● Changing text spacing does not result in any loss of information.
● Where present, content shown on hover or focus does not disappear unexpectedly and can be closed easily.
Operable
● All functionality can be operated using a keyboard or equivalent assistive technologies.
● Users can navigate freely using the keyboard and are never trapped within any component.
● Where present, single-character keyboard shortcuts do not trigger unexpected actions.
● There are no time limits, or users can control or extend them when needed.
● There is no flashing or blinking content that could trigger epileptic seizures.
● Skip links allow users to easily navigate to the main content.
● The text of each link, or at least its context, clearly indicates its destination.
● Content can be reached through more than one method.
● Elements that receive keyboard focus are always visible on screen.
● All functionality can be operated without complex gestures.
● Functionality does not activate immediately upon touch, can be cancelled, and does not require prolonged pressure.
● The name read by assistive technologies matches the visible label text.
● All functionality operates without requiring device or user motion.
● All functionality operates without requiring dragging operations.
● Interactive elements have a sufficiently large target size to be operated easily.
Understandable
● Each page has a defined language that is used consistently.
● Where present, language changes within the text can be recognized by assistive technologies.
● Keyboard focus on an element does not cause unexpected changes.
● Activating an element does not cause unexpected changes.
● Navigation options are always in the same position within the service.
● Repeated interface elements remain consistent and easy to recognize.
● Help and support options are consistent throughout the service.
● When an input error is detected, the field in error is indicated and explained with text.
● Input fields have labels or instructions when needed.
● When an input error occurs, guidance is provided to correct it where possible.
● We write content in clear and simple language.
Robust
● Standard technologies are utilized so that assistive technologies can interpret them.
● Status messages can be read by assistive technologies without moving focus.
We have tested https://www.doucals.com/ with the most common assistive technologies across a wide range of Operating System-Browser configurations:
● Screen readers (such as NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS) were used to confirm that all interactive elements are correctly announced and can be operated.
● We also test screen magnification and high-contrast modes.
We aim to be compatible with the current versions of the main assistive technologies. Our code follows the best practices outlined in WCAG 2.2 and EN 301 549 for robust implementation, meaning it should remain accessible as technology evolves.
Standard: Based on the above, we apply the latest WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549 criteria to ensure accessibility. Compliance with these standards creates a presumption of conformity with the requirements of the EAA, the ADA, and other regulations that rely on the same technical standards.
Continuous Monitoring and Maintenance
Accessibility is not a one-time commitment for us, but an ongoing process. Here is how we ensure that https://www.doucals.com/ remains accessible over time:
● With the support of AccessiWay, on 25/08/2026 we conducted an external manual audit led by experts to verify our accessibility conformance. We maintain a cycle of continuous testing and improvement, with recurring support to ensure that at least once a year a full audit is carried out, including manual testing by professionals using assistive technologies.
● We use automated testing tools integrated into our development process to promptly identify common accessibility issues (such as missing alt text or form labeling). Every code update goes through these checks.
